Why do people still use "buy and hold" when it has proven to be so risky after losing 46% in 2000-2001?

How can I make ВЈ26000?

To buy my gilfriend's ex-boyfriend out of the percentage share he owns in the house they bought together before they split.

Aside from the silly answers like go to the dog track or play the lottery, are there any short term(ish) and low risk(ish) ventures I can take to reach this target sooner rather than later?

I have about ВЈ10K capital to start with.

Low risk-ish. I would say go to vegas and place ВЈ460 pounds on no.13 on the roulette table. Theres about a 3% chance you will succeed.

Can't tell you how you should do it
but here is what I did
Shorted the Q's (options)
Ie I shorted qqq qu last week 47 puts
Only 800.00 invested It has been as high
as 1200.00 and low as 650.00
these short term options expire this week
Yesterday qqqq closed @ 46.10
.90c in the money I am already up over .10%
If q's tank today woohooo

If not I should be able to get out with small
loss if I watch it.
personally think market is on it's way down

If you got in where I did @ .80 with only 5000.00
+6250 options
XProfit @+ .26 ea you would have made $1,625.00
if you did your whole 10000 = over 3grand in 3 hours

Obviously much more if you had traded in pounds
you would now be in pretty good shape Unfortunately
if you did not get out when I did now 12pm eastern time
you would only be ahead .10c +$1000.00 Still not too bad
But be reall careful this is not for the faint at heart.
