To sum up all the answers above
1. Don't invest what you can't afford to lose, so save your money if you're going to need it.
2. Understand that bullion is better than paper ETF (or else you might as well buy stocks).
3. Shop around, look online APMEX, NWT Bullion, eBay, your local coin shop.
4. DO NOT listen to dealers than tell you bullion is confiscatable, they just want to sell you more expensive coins, buy what you can afford and watch out for what you can sell.
5. DO NOT let people hold your coins and bullion for you, otherwise you might as well use the bank to hold your money.
6. Understand the downside of having metals as money, you have to look out for it yourself.
7. Ask a Ron Paul supporter :)
8. Say NO to anybody who says you need a minimum of how much to invest, you can buy silver coins for as little as $5, or $50, obviously the more you buy the better the deal, so shop yourself. |

You can buy physical gold and silver at some dealer near you. Perhaps your bank can advise you where you can buy gold and possibly offer you a safety deposit box to store it.
Or you can invest your money in gold and silver through the stock market. There are some funds that have a lot of physical gold or silver stored in some warehouse. And these funds sell their shares on the stock market.
GLD is the stock market symbol for gold shares. And SLV is the stock market symbol for silver shares. |

You do not have to protect your money by investing in gold or silver. Actually, this is a waste of your money. You should leave your money where it is and the market will come back up that is how it works. Do not panic the sky is not falling. You should go online and listen to what Dave Ramsey financial advisor has to say about that it is free. http://www.daveramsey.com |

Easiest way I know of would be to buy an ETF (exchange traded fund) through vanguard or fidelity investments (or any other low cost fund company that has a good reputation) and that has the advantage of being easy to buy and sell and ties your money to gold or whatever etf you select. With this answer though I have to say depending on your situation it might not be the best thing to do right now as the market is low gold is high, (the most basic rule of investing being buy low sell high). |

The best, least expensive & no hassels with delivery or holding fees;
Use the ETF's;
GLD and SLV
You can buy around $10 - $500,000 worth for a total fee of $5 -$25 (TOTAL... that's it!!) depending on your on-line broker. |
