Do you have any capitol to start with , if you dont you cant trade stocks, if you had capitol i could help you trade to make 400 bucks, but if you dont...... You are going to have to get a job, you can do day labor most cities offer work per day.
You can get creative, depends what your limits are. Many universities pay people to be guinea pigs on different scientific tests. Selling blood and other body fluids might be a option ( though against my ethics). Lemonade stands are quite profitable if you can do it on large scale this time of year, ie selling wares at summer festivals etc., though require a little start up money.
Or throw a party, wet t shirt party at the local college charge 5 dolalrs at door. ( consult a lawyer before doing this..)
Anyhoo the point of my answer is to get you thinking, in the true american spirit of taking nothing and making something out of it. If you get creative and with a little hard work, you should be able to make 400 easily.
I mean for god sake the street kids begging in portland make on average of 10 bucks an hour to pan handle, but i dont give money to pan handlers..

I noticed that this is in the investing area. This question is hard to answer. It's easier to make money if you have money. If your broke and you need to earn 200 a week investing is not the way to go. 2 weeks at a minimum pay job would get you close to your goal. |

Easiest way may be not to try saving so much as earning an extra $400 (will probably need to be $500 or so when taking taxes into consideration). Look for a job you can do for a few weeks and make sure you will be paid when you need the money. |

Depends on how much you have to invest and the probability of that investment actually making a gain. I have purchased stocks that within 3 days went up 50%. So if you had invested $1000 in that stock position on that same day, you would have made $500 in 3 days. The probability of this occuring is very low.
