Take it to a coin dealer, other than where you bought it. You can also have a jeweler check it for purity with a 'scratch test', but I wouldn't recommend that.

A jeweler can test it for you - there's no way that won't use a small fraction of the coin but that can be done at the edge.

Your best bet is to go to a professional jeweler/appraiser. There are many places that buy gold, they'll be sure to give you the right answers.
Otherwise, you can check if it's soft metal as real gold should be, and test it with chemicals -- although this can be risky... And professional assay kits are just too expensive to use on a single coin.
