How close to bankrupt is six flags theme park?

pretty close but just maybe...
Six Flags (SIX) reported dramatically improved results. The management made the case that the spend is up and attendance is also up. Free tickets have been curtailed but the pricing model is a strong value proposition. The key item is that they are cash flow positive for the first time in some six years. Strong comments where made about “Watch our dust when we get rid of the huge leverage”

Analysts almost exclusively focused on balance sheet issues. They seem concerned with leverage and valuations. It’s too late for that the leverage is already astronomical by any measure. The analysts did not really focus on the operations side.

They better not go bankrupt - I just bought season passes for my family for NEXT SUMMER!

I don't know about the company as a whole, but I live near one park. The promotions this past summer were huge. They were discounting anything and everything to get traffic in the places.

As far as people who buy tickets now for next season, these advanced sales are basically an interest free loan to the company and that's how they're staying alive. If they go belly up, the ticket holders are unsecured creditors. Good luck with that.

When has six flags theme park NOT been in or near bankruptcy?

The company has been on a roller coaster ride since day one.

Well, Mr. Shapiro, the CEO, seems to have a debt reduction plan to put Six Flags on a path to profitability. With the worldwide recession, the gasoline prices at the pump should remain positive for the upcoming season. So, NO to a even a reorganization under Chapter 11.

I would say pretty close. 6-Flags management has just released a statement that they have put a hold on all outgoing checks. So if you sell to 6-Flags, you better get cash in advance.
