It all started when my Dad told me to participate in my company's 401k. Now I had a piece of the action and something at stake. This fueled my interest in the stock market. Then he told me about this Warren Buffett guy whose stock at the time sold for $70,000.00 a share. That was mind boggling to me so I bought a book about Warren Buffett and read it. I followed it up with other books such as "Rich Dad Poor Dad", "The Millionaire Next Door", and "The Richest Man in Babylon". At the same time I discovered a site called fool.com for individual investors and people who are trying to accumulate meaningful wealth through stocks. I soon opened a discount brokerage account with Scottrade and have placed many buys and sells as well as buys and holds. I have learned some things by trial and error. By bits and pieces I have learned more and today am still learning. To answer the second part of your question, fool.com is a great site. Good luck! |

You can search on google, get books, and even some games help (Stock Market Guru comes into mind.) But whatever you do, do NOT buy stocks without first being well informed. |

There are dozens of good books written about the stock market. The best way to learn is read as much as possible until you have a good idea of what it is all about. |

People invest to make money with their money. You can make money by investing in bank deposits, stocks, bonds, and in mutual funds. Our main focus is the real-life math computations of these investment vehicles. We will show you how these investments work.
The world of investing is complex while the math functions behind it can be simple.
Let's say you're starting junior high school at age 11 and want to retire with $2 million at age 65. How much money do you have to invest each month to reach this goal?
It is just $30 per month or one less trip to a vending machine each day assuming an annual return of 12% from the stock market. This is not a miracle. It's a simple math calculation using the concept of compound interest.
In addition to the real-life math in various types of investments, you will use and learn about a college fund calculator to plan for college education expenses, the top 10 US corporations in terms of stock values, and a stock game to learn how the stock market works.
Other useful...VERY useful info for you is here library.thinkquest.org/4116/Investing/in... |

Well, if you really want to know how the stock market works you should research the great depression. It is a great example.
Other sites you may want to visit:
http://googolplex.cuna.org/32032/ajsmall/story.html?doc_id=378
(scroll down and you will see big bold letters saying "How it Works." You may want to read everything that comes before that because it gives you examples.)
http://www.growthstockanalytics.com/how_does_the_stock_market_work.html
(This is another website that I highly recommend.) |
