pray, pray, pray. With the average market return of 8-12% over a longer term, you are definitely looking for outsized returns. That means well above average risk. Look for the hottest sectors and the worst sectors, and invest. THe key is to get out before it craters. The worst sectors are housing, mortgage and financial related. That may double, triple or better in the next few years if things get better, You should be a buyer when no one else wants to be a buyer. tb

open up a topless bar. If you have a million isn't that enough?

Give me one million and I'll give you 5 million in 3 years. Just looking for an opportunity.

You don't do it by asking on Yahoo Answers... you do it by learning the basics of finance and hard work... dedication.. and personal discipline because nobody is going to do it for you

According to Warren Buffett the small capital investor should be able to double their money every 18 months. ($1m qualifies as small cap.) I have found this to be quite reasonable. With a sound investment strategy you should be able to turn $1m into $5m by investing it in equities. I'm sure that there are many people here on YA! that would volunteer to help you. Personally I don't need the aggravation, as I am perfectly happy handling my own investments. Of course without the necessary knowledge and training you could well lose your $1m, but if you take the time to learn the ropes, turning $1m into $5m in 5 yrs is definitely achievable.

Interesting. I suggest you need a top rate portfolio Manager and or accountant. There are ways to do this...so I am told!!
Goldman Sachs or there is a firm Barrington-Smith. I hear from a very good ( and rich contact in South Africa and one in Saudi.) that the best investment, portfolio and advisor around was a John Barrington, but I think he is retired these days. Good luck anyhow.
