How does a stock improve in price?
I'm still new to investing and i had a question about stocks. How does a stock improve in price? Does it move up in price because people start buying alot of the stock or does it increase or decrease with quarterly reports about their income? Thanks.

Generally both

If more people are wanting to buy the stock then wanting selling it that could cause the stock to go up.

If the quarterly reports indicate rising profit that could also cause people to want to pay more for it and it will go up.

If people think that the prospects for a company are improving, the buyers will be willing to pay a higher price and the people who already own shares will demand a higher price, so the shares will change hands at a higher price.

The prices you read in the paper are based on last price traded. Stock brokers have lists of people asking to sell and offering to buy the stock. All asks are higher than the offers. When a new asker comes along with a low enough price a trade takes place or if an offeror comes along with a high enough price a trade takes place.

Mostly it goes up when the overall market goes up. If earnings per share increase that helps, but it does not help much in a bear market.

Yes and Yes.

A stock's price fluctuates with supply and demand. Supply being fixed by the number of shares outstanding and demand being the numbers of shares for sale vs. the number of shares to be bought.

Demand for a stock has many different factors that influence it. Over all market concerns, future outlook for the company and industry, and or course the financial health of the company itself (income, cash flow, debt), plus loads of others outside factors that neither the company nor the average investor can control.

Price is controlled by demand and supply. When there is a good news known to promoters and insiders, they start buying the shares and later the ripple effect is felt in the stock market. Please browse the e-library and links in the website referred below.

When the wheels on the market go round and round it increases the volume and density of the market volatility.

The more points a share has the more it's worth. The idea is to buy stock low (as it is now) and when it begins to flourish you sell at much higher prices
