Ambrose O | How easy or hard is it to start online stock trading? |
Just wanna know if it's easy or if it's difficult. |

It is very easy to start online stock trading.
It is quite easy to breakeven, provided you have studied the fundamentals and have tested your system.
It is quite difficult to make GOOD MONEY.
To sum it up: if you work hard (build a system, test it with a demo account, backtest it) and if you are built for it (trading stocks requires strong mental skills: that is at least half the recipe for success - never underestimate it!), you can succeed. But it will not come overnight. I hope I have not ruined your enthusiasm but I think you should know. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I have been through that too!...
All the best! |

incredibly easy. all you need is some money and a brokerage firm to place your orders through.
I used sharebuilder.com before but there might be even cheaper ones out there, I havent looked in a while |

That would depend on how familiar you are with stocks and all its concepts. If you learn the basics of financial markets then it would be quite easy to start online stock trading.
You can start learning with an easy-to-use platform, like gnuTrade, for instance. They've got a playmoney feature, which helps you to learn how to trade without risking your own cash.
Cheers! |

Really easy. You just need to find a good broker that wont charge you too much money to buy stocks. |

You can also make money on a "breakout". That's a stock that's hitting a new trading high or low that day.
You can also make money by "scalping", or getting a thin piece of a rapidly-rising stock's upward momentum. Buy 1,000 shares of a $35 stock, hold it for 10 seconds, and sell it for $35 1/8.
Of course, that's if you're any good. Many people just don't get it.

It is very easy to actually buy and sell stock. You put money in, you place a buy order and if/when it is completed, you bought a company (well a piece of it).
However it is very hard to find stocks that will make you money. in today's economy the stock market is a stormy ocean. There is plenty of money to be made. You will need guts, determination, education, some luck and GUTS (yeah, it is important enough to say twice). |

It is very easy to open and fund an online brokerage account. It can be done in minutes.
The time consuming part is the research looking for the best stocks out of all that are available (screening stocks). Fundamental and technical analysis, keeping up to date on current company news (mergers, upgrades, downgrades, stock splits, etc.), keeping track of all the company earnings report dates, ex-dividend dates, etc.
If you are not willing to do the "homework" you should not be trading stock. |
