unknown555 | How long do you think this financial crisis is going to last? |
How long do you think this financial crisis is going to last? |

It depends solely on us, as our nature and behavior is the reason for it.
After all it is good news, as the solution is in our hands.
Here is a short article which answers the same question:
http://www.laitman.com/2008/12/when-will-the-financial-crisis-end/
I hope it helps, all the best. |

In my opinion, this is just the beginning. I think that we have many more years left. Due to fact, our mortgage industry is down in the dumps. First of all these mortgage servicers should all be shut down. They are in the business to make money. They make money on delinquent loans. They don't want to help out the consumer. If they did than where would that leave them???? They make money on late payments and foreclosures. Very rare is there a case to where the servicer will modify a mortgage to help the consumer.
I have a question: "WHERE DID THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS GO THAT WERE SUPOSE TO HELP OUT THE FORECLOSURE MESS??" |

I think the "crisis" will not last more than six months or so but it may be a couple of years before things are starting to be seen as getting "good", until earnings for companies are growing well again .
The stock market tries to predict 3 to 9 months ahead so it should turn around earlier.
The problem with this possibly being the longest recession since the Depression the longer it goes the longer it will take to turn around. And we don't really know how bad things may get as they are still trending down at this time.
In my opinion I see little upside strength other than the government throwing money at the economy. That hasn't had much effect yet other than to stop some total collapses. It will have a great effect, but not yet. |

I think it will last some decent time. It is hard to put an actual time limit on it, but my guess is another year or so of this until the economy starts to go up. There is just so much that needs to be fixed, from the housing crisis to the stock market. News events like Bernie Medoff stealing billions of dollars certainly dosent help the current state we are in. |

For a long time at least 3-5 more years. Banking is a mess. Social security is bankrupt and medicare is in worse shape than social security. Fed rate CAN'T go lower. There are no more rate cuts, TARP is a mess and all it will do is make taxes go up or lower our standard of living.
The government should have given the $750 billion back to the citizens of this country and allow us to spend it the way we want. If it was put into savings, banks would have money to lend. If people went shopping, it would stimulate the economy. If people paid down their debts, it would loosen the credit crunch.
Giving MORE money to people who have shown they CAN'T manage to make profits when they already have TRILLIONS of dollars of assets (banks) is beyond stupid and will only hurt everyone in the long run.
This was supposed to be done to help build confidence. I don't know about you, but I don't feel any more confident. |

Until somebody stands up and tells the CEO's they are not worth
100 million dollar bonuses per year considering the majority of them spend much more time playing golf & partying than they do working. |

Sorry to break it to you, but it is going to last quite a long time.
We've been building up to this for years and it may very well take years to dig out (especially since we seem to be trying to fix it with very expensive band-aids and leaving the matter largely un-supervised afterwards).
There are still more things yet to sort out. Sorry. |

The average secular bear market last approx 15 years. We entered a secular bear market in the year 2000. Each secular market has cyclical trends as well. For example, we entered a cyclical bull market within a secular bear trend in the year 2003 which lasted 4 years until 2007, now the cyclical and secular trends coincide once again. This will probably reverse its self within the next year at which time we will enter another cyclical bull trend for 1-4 years until we see our next cyclical bust. In short, cyclical trend should end within a year but the larger bear trend should be with us until around 2015 at which time we would enter a
secular bull trend.
The technical analysis of macro trends I outlined above are what a lot of the big players use as a guide and should be much more effective than any guess, but they are still only historic averages and patterns. |
