Chris L | How long do you think until the stock market bottoms out? |
How much time will it take for the current crisis to resolve itself? |

Supposedly it will peak next July and then settle down afterwards. |

I think the stock market will be very volatile until the new president is elected. |
|

She It I do
|
It will not till the last home is foreclosed upon
.
That has one of those Short term Low interest loans hanging on it
.
Then Wall Street will start all over again on how to put it to the average tax payer in how to make more money off them any way that they
.
Can sneak by I mean to buy

I am packing, so that when I my employer can't make payroll, and I can't make my housepayment or any other payment, because I am unemployed and broke and have nothing to fall back on, I will be ready to live in my Card board box, and I am stock up on canned goods I can heat on an open flame.. |

Markets always look forward, not back. Today's prices reflect a lot of bad news about the things we already know about: subprime mortgages, declining housing prices, an expensive war in Iraq, an uncertain election, and now uncertainty over whether Congress is going to pass a rescue package for the financial system. It's hard for me to imagine how it gets much worse.
We're going to get a lot of resolution in the next several months: we'll know who the new president is, we'll probably have a lower troop commitment in Iraq, housing prices will probably be closer to a bottom and we'll know what we're dealing with regarding the health of the financial system. for these reasons, I think we're getting closer to the bottom in the market.
I'm not saying jump in tomorrow, because there is a lot of uncertainty at the moment, but even in several days we'll know a lot more. Have in mind prices where you'd like to start to put money to work given certain scenarios.
Good luck... |

Eventually the "bailout" deal will go through. When that happens the market will go back up again. But for a few days it should be bottoming out - it depends when the government finally gets the deal done. |

It will not "resolve itself". The bad debts are going to continue to be written off, people are going to continue losing their homes. With almost zero liquidity in the markets, banks and businesses will no longer be able to borrow enough money to continue on and people are going to start losing their jobs. As people lose their jobs, spending will slow even more, which will cause the economy to continue to plunge. We aren't even close to the bottom yet, how can we possible predict when we will get out? |
|

Almost Easy
 |
Personally, i think that if American government decides to bale out the banks with its $700bn, then shares prices will rise temporarily. However there will probably damage to wall street in the long run. Share prices rising and being worth more will allow people to have confidence when investing and the market will pick up until the 700bn turns to a hefty debt=] |

I was watching the news and it seems that it could be soon, around the end of the year. Possibly early next year. |

I don't have an answer for you about the stock market but will be interested in reading the other opinions. I'm also concerned about another looming crisis that is going to jeopardize our economy, probably in the very near future...credit card debt. |
