MDX 0601 | How many stocks do you guys have in your portfolio? |

Currently, I own 26 stocks, but the number varies as conditions change. I track roughly 100 stocks in total, from 3 industries only: high tech, pharma and bio tech. This is my focus and where most of my research is concentrated; the balance of time is spent on economic climate and market conditions.
All holdings have price targets on the upside and downside and emotions are never part the decision process. Portfolio review is a necessary constant, knowing causal factors that influence stock price is a priority. Nothing works unless executed with discipline. |

I let the market decide for me.
In a strong market, I may carry up to 30-40 stocks, in a bad market - 1-2 or none (or short). |

If I had at least $100,000...
I'de own at least 30. If I had millions, I'de be over 100 equities. Then again, I run off my own financial model of formula investing, so I can keep track of all of them.
You really are the only one who can decide that for your own money. I guess put it in the maximum number of stocks you think you can keep track of reliably. Otherwise, don't invest in what you don't know... |

20 not including my 401K account.
Biggest holdings are NYX, IBM, BIDU, AKR, GOOG, AXP.
Buy good quality stocks that pay decent dividends AND/OR are the leaders in their industry.
Good Luck

I have over 800. I buy in $1000 dollar increments. I self direct my IRA via Charles Schwab and buy an array of high momentum. At 3 mounts I sell any that are really going down.
It works for me! |

Honestly, if you are gonna hold more than 20 stocks, you should just put your money in an index fund that has high correlation to that 20 stock holding. |
