You can do it without college, but you are asking someone to trust an inexperienced person with their money. I would suggest a degree in business/finance. To become a broker/dealer you must pass the FINRA series 7 test. It will take several weeks of intense study to get it done. I would assume that most brokerage firms are going to want that degree or at least some experince and seasoning so start there. |

You really don't need a college education to be a stockbroker,
There are no academic classes that teach one to be a stock broker. BUT many firms that hire stock brokers want an individuals with a degree.
So to get a job in a brokerage firm as broker get a degree
Stock brokers are registered individuals that service the general public customers of a broker/dealer (B/D).
All stock brokers must be registered (licensed) and to get the license you must be employed by and sponsered by the B/D
Stock brokers can solicit customers on behalf of the B/D and continue to service them as if they were their own.
Brokers are usually paid by commissions only, HOWEVER, brokers that work for banks or insurance company owned B/Ds are salaried and don't share in the commission.
Hope this addressed what you were looking for |

A bachelor's degree is required by the big firms, a business, finance, or economics major from a top business school is preferred. However you aren't required to have a degree to be a stockbroker, although it would be exceedingly difficult to get hired without one.
A stock broker is a qualified and regulated professional who buys and sells (trades) shares (in other words, stocks) and other securities through market makers on behalf of investors. |

You dont need to go to college to be a stockbroker. All you need to do is contact a broker like Edward Jones about their broker trainee program. After you finish that then you need to take a couple exams to get certified. Its just like becoming an insurance agent or real estate agent. Get hired and get certified. Being a stockbroker is about sales of different types of investment products. If you want to know what they sell look up Edward Jones site. They have an office, or two or three, in almost every small town. |

A stockbroker buys and calls specialists on the floor to trade stocks for people. See someone calls a stockbroker and says get me "x" amount of shares for the "x" company. and the stockbroker immediately calls a trader in the floor in NY, and has them get you the stock. All this is done within seconds though, can be a very hectic job. And the years of college depends. |

Actually, you don't need any years in college. You need to know special things/traits though.
Basically, all a stockbroker is is a glarified salesman. He/She buys and sells stock for the investor.
