first, you should not buy stock until you are better informed. do some research on what it is and how it works before you buy. If you have to ask how to find the cost of a specific corps. share then you need to learn the basics. I commend you on wanting to learn and buys stocks, but learn first before you get into bad habits with stocks. by the way...

I have a Scottrade account and can go on line and buy or sell stock anytime. Each transaction costs you $7.00 no matter what the amount of the buy. It costs $2500.00 to open an account.
You can also go to a stockbroker to buy, but their fees are much higher .
Stock prices vary from one stock to another, and can change every day.

You would have to check, near the time of purchasing the stock, how much it cost at that time. Stock prices change daily, often; they change price several times per day!

There are fees for purchasing stock, known as brokerage fees. These are the fees you pay to the company, or stockbroker, who will purchase the stocks in your name and hold them in your name for you. You might want to look into purchasing stocks online, you might get a good deal on fees that way, and be able to manage and have more control over your account.

Good luck!

There are fees.
You will want to learn a lot more about it before doing any stock trading. read read read.
Why Sony? The point is to buy stock from anyone selling it, that you believe will go up in value, anyone. And you need a strategy, long term or short term.

stocks can cost as little as a few cents or as much as several thousand dollars each.
Yes, there is a transaction fee when your buy or sell stock, this can also cost as little as about 10 dollars to a few hundred dollars per transaction.
