How should you invest to minimize the impact of inflation?
I know real estate is probably good but i dont have that much money. Is there anything i can do besides putting savings/CDs in the bank or setting up an IRA?

Buy into a good mutual fund that is no-load like Tiaa Cref or Vanguard. You should also have an IRA either Roth or Regular. Also, do you have the opportunity to have a 401K at work? If so, put in the maximum. You will enjoy the tax saving and you will be amazed how quickly it grows.

Until Bush's blood for O I L war is over, all you can do is buy gold..

One possibility is to invest in foreign curriences. As the dollar appreciates/depreciates against them, your investment value changes. This is commonly known as hedging interest rate risk. This investment is somewhat speculative, so you should know the type of economy of the foreign country and its political risk. Political risk can have a huge impact on the value of a currency.

Look at CLM, DHY, RMH, RHY. (Yahoo Finances)
To choose from any of these find out about their holdings with edgaronline.com

These are relatively safe funds (history has shown that these remain stable when the market drops), the last pays around 18% in dividends, some send you a check monthly.
Get an account with a broker, but keep in mind that these investments are not insured.
If the market goes upside down you'll lose bigtime, so don't put all eggs into the same basket.
Also watch out for the end of 2008 and thereafter, significant changes may occur.

IRA is always good, but the money would not be available without penalty until you're old and gray.

Stay away from Realestate at the moment (unless you want to buy for your own use and only buy foreclosure property) the mess isn't over yet, we might see problems of the value going down for 2 more years.

Putting money in savings and CD's is a way to subject yourself to inflation. An IRA would be better. You have to find something that will outperform inflation. Stocks that have exposure to foreign countries are a good start.

If you're concerned about inflation, you might want to invest in TIPS (Treasury Income Protected Securities)
"Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities, or TIPS, provide protection against inflation. The principal of a TIPS increases with inflation and decreases with deflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index. When a TIPS matures, you are paid the adjusted principal or original principal, whichever is greater."
http://www.treasurydirect.gov/indiv/products/prod_tips_glance.htm

Also, you might want to invest in a gold or precious metal ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) such as GLD.

Anything not related to China is probably a wise decision. But seriosly, try gambling.

to minimize the impact of inflation on the economy, you should not save or invest but spend.
