check the banks in your area- the interest rate can vary from about .5 to about 2.5 %. I find that credit unions have higher return rates, but mroe hidden, smaller fees or restricitons on certain accounts. Also, if you have enough to spare, look into cd's with your bank rep too. |

Hirishito-san, I will guess that English is not your native language, but two concepts in English probably have equivalents in Japanese.
SAVINGS refers to accumulation of buying power which is NOT invested. Therefor, it does not "grow more money".
INVESTMENTS are not savings! It is money that is "at risk". You might not get it back! Invest wisely. Partially as a reward for the risk, you earn the opportunity, but not the guarantee, of possibly profiting from giving your money over to someone else to use--and you hope (s)he is a good steward!
Before doing any investing, I suggest that first you learn something about prudent, cautious investing. Please do not go off half-cocked after being inspired by the latest investment craze. Usually if an investment idea is too popular, it's a bad one, and ripe for a disaster. Think of the real estate bubble in Japan. Everyone thought they could get rich bidding up the price of land against each other.
I can't teach you how to invest here, but I will get you started on a few ideas:
Do not invest any money until you have an adequate reserve of savings. 6 month's worth is a good start.
INVEST NO MONEY THAT YOU CAN NOT AFFORD TO LOSE.
Do not take any investment positions that you can not hold indefinitely.
Do not buy any stocks that you would not mind owning indefinitely.
Be a very picky suitor of stocks. Don't chase after them, but make them earn your love and respect.
Keep plenty of cash available at all times, and WAIT for bargains; do not be impatient and do not rush into the market.
