There's a few differences but more similarities. Bottom line, a chart is a chart. In any time frame, in any market. If you knew about trading stocks.... hopefully you'd know this.

there is not as much gov't regulation and protection in the futures arena as there is in the securities market
the attraction for people to commodities are the low margin requirements
in other words leverage
that is what people seek in the commodities arena
you can also find the opportunity to leverage your investments in the real estae market
if you might be so inclined

The futures markets ARE regulated, just like the stock market. The CFTC and NFA are the regulatory bodies that oversee the industry and regulate its participants.

While you can gain access to markets like oil and gold through ETFs you can't get at the same leverage. Keep in mind that leverage can work for or against you so you'll need to plan ahead in case the markets move against you.

To learn more check out www.futuresinvest.info and download the simulated trading account to get some feel for the day to day volatility befor you start trading.

Remember, many people lose money trading in futures, its not easy. Having said that, there is a lot of opportunity too so plan your trades and trade your plan.

You should also check with the NFA to view the compliance history of any broker you consider working with to make sure they're reputable.

most of the stock brokers have an option for commodity trading also in their online platforms. You have to just pay an additonal fee and sign an additional agreement to start trading in MCX and NCDEX

Hold onto your cash. As for the stock market: Get out. And stay out.

That's right: $91 Trillion in derivatives, financed by 1 1/4 trillion dollars of investor assets. That's almost double the total global GDP (approx. $48 Trillion) for JP Morgan alone. Funny money. IOU's. Another $34 Trillion for CitiBank and $32 Trillion for Bank of America, each with $1 1/4 Trillion backing their bets.

As Paul Harvery would say, "And now for the rest of the story." These are very
interesting looking numbers. And very revealing. While it's true that existing
single family home sales were up 2.8% month to month-- they were down 22.9%
year to year. How does that old saw go? Figures don't lie; but liars figure?
