I am a senior almost a HS graduate in a few days. Going to a community college and applied for financial aid and will make loans to pay for college then transfer.
I have a checking, savings @ my local bank. An ING direct savings, 403b @ One America, and a ROTH IRA @ vanguard. I also, have an account @ treasurydirect w/ some saving bonds.
What should I do more to improve myself?
Should I stick my fed. loans in an ING orange savings and some in a checking account from my local bank?
I am all ears.

What you should do is concentrate on completing college. That's what will "improve you." Keep any loan money in the bank. |

All great, except you have a 403 (b), which means you work. I would suggest using work money or getting a side job if possible along with financial aid to pay for school. If at all possible, make taking out loans a LAST resort. You want to be debt-free if at all possible once you finish school. |

WOW! You're doing an amazing job of self management! And you're just now getting out of high school---that's awesome, really.
Of course, if there's a positive cash flow to be derived from placing fed loans into a savings account, then you could do that although I'd have a problem from a moral point of view---but that's not your problem. And frankly, I did something quite similar when I was your age.
I'm going to suggest you begin exploring the stock market---not by investing, mind you, but by learning about it...ie, how it works, how a young investor gets started when ready---and you could learn about different levels of risk. I'll also suggest you take time out for great behavior. LOL Have some fun before starting your college career unless you plan on going this Summer.
Something young people rarely consider is how the next five years will change your life forever.
You may find yourself married, even a parent! You may decide to go into the military or a vocational program...or buy a house or start a business. It's important to keep your options open without tying your finances and your concerns into a tight ball that winds up limiting freedom to change your mind and/or direction along the way.
Meanwhile, keep up the good work!
