I guess a financial planner would say to invest it in a company through stocks/bonds, but I say a savings account. Don't touch it, leave it their and let it accumulate interest. It takes time to make money, but you're 18 so dont be in such a rush.

Also, dont gamble it because thats just throwin it away.

However, if you have a business idea or something to offer then use it to make money and save it. Let's say you're a great musician, play at weddings, or any gig you can get into. Try craigslist.

Nothing illegal because doin right pays off in the end and you'll have a clean conscious (somethin that has no price tag)

Start by putting a small amount regularly into a mutual fund. Low risk is usually involved.

Be sure to read the prospectus of the funds you think you may be interested in before you send in your money.

After you see some profit on your mutual fund and after you have mastered reading the prospectus, branch out into CDs, treasury bonds and stocks.

Don't risk your money, just because you don't know what you are doing. Learn first and be money-wise.

Jst bump into yr Q today. Don't used to do this. Remember: Use your time to exchange for $. U can multiply your returns, 1) by taking higher risk, or a better way, of course, 2) get great education. You dont need to goto top University to get it. You jst need to get good result.
Expand your knowledge. Then only u will know how 2 make more $ and keep them.

Great future ahead.

If you want to start investing for retirement, get a Roth IRA from an online brokerage that offers them with no fees. Find a good value stock and reinvest dividends. Limit your transaction counts so all your profits don't end up being spent on commissions.
