Good FX (foreign currency exchange) traders can do that easily.
The best investor in world (Warren Buffet...second richest to Bill Gates...made half his profit last year from currency trading). It is 'gambling the value of American dollars against one of the other world currencies.
But the only good way to do it is understanding and using special software and lots of practice...there are fake investment rackets out there too. I'd have him open up a "trial account' first. That is, he trades an imaginary $500 for you and shows you the outcome at the end of a week or month. That's the way all currency traders start out learning the trade BEFORE they invest actual money. Some of them 'trial trade' for many months before they take the plunge with real money.
If he can give you 3 references AND makes you $5000 that month - ON PAPER (without using your money), You could take a week chance with $100, then a bigger chance, until you are comfortable. It IS a GREAT way to make money. Way better than the stock market. And it's unregulated. Just be cautious going in.

It's a scam. Why would a perfect stranger be willing to double your money? There is a well known latin quote that says "caveat emptor". It stands for "Let the buyer beware."
If it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true. The people who get in first are usually the ones making money. Then they have to sucker more people in to keep the pyramid going. Those that come in later in the scam are stuck losing their money. |

I think these schemes are always a risk, but if you go into it with your hard earned cash then you have to know how and when to pull out. Obviously someone else has to lose for you to gain.
If the scheme started with a deposit of $500 and it is now up to $5000 then some alarm bells have to be ringing don't you think? |

With a very well planed high risk trade, you could double $5000 in about 15 minutes. Of course, you if the trade goes wrong, say bye bye. Hope doesn't move markets. |

Trading currency has no value unless you play it like the stock market over its value changes.
No currency doubles or halves itself & then gains back original value over the course of 30 days which is what would be required. |
