CD's (certificates of deposits) are extremely safe, and you'll make a fair amount of money in a couple years. Not as much as you could in stocks. But there's no risk.
It's what I did when I was your age. |

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM STOCKS!!! I lost 5k in "for sure" tips! If you're not making alot of interest at the bank, try to find a credit union that's open to the public with a higher interest rate than what you're getting now. Good luck with your business adventures! |

no matter what, stocks are a gamble, and right now this is a $h!tty market, where that risk increases a lot. I know a lot of stock brokers, and they say the market SUCKS right now, and they think it will probably not get better for at least 1 year or 2. your parents are right, stocks aren't the way to go, not at this point. and one grand is going to be tough to get a business going with, there really isn't any sure fire way to get a lot of money by then. try putting it into a CD, the intrest rates are usually higher because you agree to not take your money out of the bank for a set time period, so you can earn more on your money. good luck. stay ambitious. |

i went down from 1200 to like 300 in like 7 months
im 14 and now i mow lawns and juist got a huge check so now im back up but keep saving |

keep it in there. save more. once you get around 5K do a C.D. from a bank. Keep saving keep buying CD's (not mucic discs). Once you have about 30k saved, start rolling them into an IRA. |
