check www.etsy.com. It is an on-line selling venue for handmade items only.
Also handmade boutique, pageant items sell well on EBay. Due a search for completed items using those terms and see what sells in the area of your talent. |

I used to have a neighbor that was retired but sewed for people. she did a lot of prom dresses, special one of a kind cowboy shirts,, and a lot of adjustments on men's pants, like the length of legs, etc. she had more than she could do,, made very good money at it. (worked out of her house) |

jo_blo has the right idea. Not very many people sew anymore. Many people cant even sew a button on. If you can sew really well try doing alterations and custom sewing for people in your area. My wife does it. If you're good, word of mouth is all the advertising you need. You will need to invest in good equipment though. Atleast a good sewing machine and serger. |

Pick your best product, or make something really, really good. Get someone who has a digital camera (or drag out yours if you have one) and take several pictures (front and back general shots, then a couple of closeups on the good stuff). Then open an account on ebay and offer one in the customer's size and start the bid at the least you would take for your work. The post office has flat rate shipping for small packages, so check the prices and put that down for the estimated shipping cost. Then you wait.

EBay smebay. The guys at FUBU were just a bunch of broke guys until they saw people selling stocking caps on the corner in New York City for $20 each. They thought they could sew stocking caps just as good as that guy so they did.
One thing led to another and their millionaires.
The point...you don't need eBay dang it. Sew some stuff, put a label on it and sell it at flea markets or garage sales or put an add in the paper for home made clothes.
Yeah have you ever thought of being a seamstress who will make house calls. Or you could open your doors to people to come to you, or open a local store, or even better find a shop that sells complementary goods like shoes, or jewelry and ask them if you can set up a display in their store and sit there and talk to potential customers.
There I just brainstormed 3 or 4 ideas. You can do it to if you put your mind to it. Good luck. |

Make yourself stand out from the crowd with unique products... medeviel fair costumes? curtains or tablecloths? odd sized doll clothes? Ebay is good but don't limit yourself. Consider your own website at Prostores (free trial). Find your target market and go for it. You can put up flyers, pass out business cards, and just get word of mouth to drive people to check out your products. Get a business license and Tax ID so you don't have to pay your supply and marketing costs out of your own pocket... money is already tight. You can get sweet tax credits to help with rent, utilities, computer expenses, seller fees, postage, etc. Do it the right way!!! |

try ebay or creagslist to put the things you sew, on the internet and try making clothes for you daughter and family and let them ware the stuff and make up cards so if someone asks them where they got that outfit, shirt or pants they could give it to that person and make stuff for yourself, have a yard sale of your things. i will pray for you and i hope things work out. |

Sewing is a talent, congratulations. Check other handmade items on e-bay and decide which you are interested in - baby clothes, baby blankets, table runners, place mats, etc. You might think about machine quilts but they don't sell well on e-bay unless you auction them. Good luck !! |

Make a website, i use sitesell.com. Then list some stuff on ebay and link your ebay page to your website to get free traffic to your site. Otherwise your auction fees will be too high compared to profits.
