You are using borrowed money for the other $9,000. This is called leverage. If your investment goes up 5%, you make roughly $500. If your investment goes down 5%, you lose roughly $500. It can be very risky. Either way, the broker takes some money for commissions.
Someone below is trying to claim you are not borrowing the money. "The money you put up is not borrowed money, as someone has suggested, it is a good faith deposit which is established to cover any likely loses." When you buy a house, your down payment is a good faith deposit which is established to cover any likely losses if you default on the mortgage and the bank has to sell the house. But you ARE borrowing money in both cases. The answerer is trying to play with words. |

trade 1000 from 10k is to risk 10% of the capital , it's kind of risky.example , trade 1 lot is around 1000 plus.........forex is not a easy market , is world no.1 hard market. If you have no experience in experience please let professional to do the job for you,I was tired to invest in some companies or fraud that stole me or company that i invested and i did not have all control on my money, so now i invested in this company ,i opened an account with the broker, signed the agreement and the POA allowing this trader company work my money. I can watch the trader working 24 hours
daily by online platform, i have all the control. I can revoke the POA (Power of Attorney) whenever i want to stop my investment with this company, it will be much easier, i need only email or call to broker. :) The money is under my control, this is the best ! i will never more invest in the companies that i sent the money or e-currencies that i can not control. I think that managed account is much intelligent :D
PS: The minimum is $ 15,000 a while, i did not have this money, so i opened a JOINT account with friends and all invested a little money and we are happy with our fund :) All month we will add more money and get rich !take a look

All commodities are traded on margin. The money you put up is not borrowed money, as someone has suggested, it is a good faith deposit which is established to cover any likely loses. The margin requiremtns differ with each commodity since each has its own characteristic volatility.
Margins are somewhat arbitrary. Exchanges establish miniumum margins, but brokerage houses can increase that. You must also understand the concept of the maintenance margin. If your trade falls to that level, you will be ascked to increase your account to bring it back to the original margin level--or you will have to exit your trade.
