stepp wife | I got a letter in the mail, its "not" a chain letter but a quick way to make 800,000. Should I do it ?? |
It is hardly any cost to me and seems really logical. It talks about investing in one another. it wont cost me hardly anything except for stamps, envelopes, and a name list to mail to. Am I just giving in????i would like to do it because it REALLY seems like it would work. Im not one to fall for things like this. Ive really sat down and thought about it. |

It sounds like one of the company's that used to be around in the 70's and 80's that wanted you to stuff envelopes for them, they would send you the stuff, and you would stuff envelopes for them, and they would pay you so much for each envelope you stuffed for them... well, they would never pay off, or they would not pay the amount they said they would.. it would end up like being one cent for every envelope .. you would have to work 24/7 to ever make any money off of it.. So really the only person that was ever making any money was the guy that you were stuffing the envelopes for.. it was ads for his business. I tried it in the 70's and worked really hard at it for about a month and think I made $25.. gave it up really fast.. Good luck to you if you try it, but hope you don't give them to much of your hard earned money !! |

My first answer would be no. If it's such a great investment why isn't everybody doing it? There is no quick way to make 800,000, It's gotta be a scam. My second answer would be; if you absolutely have to do it then don't invest more then you can afford to lose, because you will lose your investment and quite possibly your identity. Best of Luck! |

There is an old saying that "If something seems too good to be true it probably is."
This sounds like a pyramid scheme to me. If you know people at your bank well enough to be able to ask a question, I'd ask the bank employee's opinion. Anyone you trust or who you know to be reputable would be a good one to ask their opinion.
If you are concerned about seeming to be foolish in asking, think how foolish you'd feel if you invested the money only to find that only those who began the scheme made a bundle of money. Actually you'd feel worse than foolish in such a circumstance. You'd be hurting financially. Better to ask the person you question at the bank how you can invest your money there and get back a reasonable and honest dividend. |

Don't. All they need is your name/address. Nothing is as easy at it seems. Common sense would be a good thing to use in a case like this. |

i think i got that same letter. It states how its not a chain letter when it really is. Then explains how it works. Lists 3 people with their addresses and tells you to send them like a couple dollars each and yada yada. The apparently your name will be added to that list of three people? frankly i dont think it would work. If enough people did it your name wouldnt remain on the list of 3 long enough to get any money really. And secondly i bet your name never even makes it on the list they send the same letter to millions of people with the same 3 names and with those people with small brains and good hearts do as they are told. Thus those 3 people make millions but everyone else is just out 10 or so dollars. |

it sounds like a scam, plain and simple. I've had something like that sent to me before. Usually it it sounds like easy money and it sounds inexpensive, its usually too good to be true. Same as when you get e-mails saying 'invest in this and make more than $4000 a month!'
sounds like a lot of bull, and its almost sounding like your one of the few actually buying into it |

They may say it is "not" a chain letter, but it "is" a chain letter, no matter what you call it. There will be 2 types of people involved in it; The people who get screwed, and the ones doing the screwing. Do you really want to be either one? Go get it and run it through the shredder. Now. Go on, get hopping! Throw it away! |

No, I dont think so because it probably most likely is a conspiracy or just something someone put there on purpose to remind there self not to **** with this guy again |

Yes you can make alot of money provided the people keep it going like you did. But what if they all write yahoo answers and get the same response you got and it stops. Then you are out your money. There is a very large risk involved. Ask yourself this, if I invest in this chain letter (It really is a chain letter, I get them too, most say they are a lawyer and it is legal, but they are not) can you afford to lose whatever you put into it. If your answer is yes then it may be worth a try. I have refused to try it to this point.
10 points please |

You got a letter with a way to make money that involves stamps and a mailing list , and it's NOT a chain letter?
hmm...
How does Mail Fraud sound?
From the United States Postal service website :
http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/chainlet.htm
There's at least one problem with chain letters. They're illegal if they request money or other items of value and promise a substantial return to the participants. Chain letters are a form of gambling, and sending them through the mail (or delivering them in person or by computer, but mailing money to participate) violates Title 18, United States Code, Section 1302, the Postal Lottery Statute. (Chain letters that ask for items of minor value, like picture postcards or recipes, may be mailed, since such items are not things of value within the meaning of the law.) |

My answer to you is no, please do not fall for any thing that says that it is quick. Nothing is quick, to get what you want takes time and effort. They say it cost nothing but a stamp, sure but all you get is unnecessary info that will say send us this amount of money and we will tell you how to scam others and sending you money. this makes me mad because so many people lose there life savings (especially senor citizens), so please ignore it. Also report this to the better business bureau to ask if this is for real. |

The only ones who make money off this are the ones that sell you the mailing list. This is a scam similar to "Make money at home stuffing envelopes" You either put your name at the bottom and everyone else sends you money when it gets to the top or others never invest. You spends hundreds on stamps and get little or nothing back.
No company with a legitimate job/investment will require you to do something like this. Check out the name of the company at the better business burea (www.bbb.com) or with your local state attorney general. |

without looking at that letter, no one can help you. Give people more information about the company or the employer. |

That sounds like a "pyramid" scam to me. Those I believe are actually illegal in many places. |

Its a scam, but hey if you want to make money you have to work for it,it will not find you,you have to find it.Go open up a deli work 7 days a week for 15 years and you will be on your way to having that 500,000 dollars. While accumulating wealth stay out of the malls and no gambling and drive same car for ten years. |

Answer: no. There is not a quick way to make $800,000 unless you ride the internet wave and sell internet ad spaces and become a spam guru. |
|

Let's see, you send a dollar to the next person on the list and put your name and other people's names on thelist and supposedly all of these people will then get this mail and send you a dollar, until you get 800,00. I thought these things were illegal.
Save your money. |

No matter which way you try to convince yourself that it 'may be' OK, the bottom line is that it is illegal. So, make your choice based on that. |

Hey, if something sounds too good to be true it usually is, but you will never know until you try. Sometimes you'd be surprised at whart you find. I say try it, the stamps and such wont cost much, and if it doesnt work out you havent lost much, and youve satisfied your curiosity. |
