I have £2500 to invest. What would you recommend?
I've invested on Abbey direct isa, lloyds saving accounts, etc. I don't see money growing at all. I know that it guerantees security from loss.
However, now I am considering investing in stock market or a bit more risky funds than those i'm doing.
I have no experience with it and I don't know what is the best for me.
Does anybody know better ways to invest?

Buy premium bonds, I have been told that you can win more money than you can get on interest at banks at the moment and your investment is safe.

Well, in your inexperience you did absolutely the right thing. If you take a risk without knowing what you are doing, you will be sure to lose. I understand the frustration about logging your money in an ISA or a bank however and there are ways to make a much better return.

From my understanding of investing as a whole, the best thing you can do is leave it where it is for the time being and research a number of different possibilities of how better you can use your money. You could put it into a fund where the manager will invest you money for you and the benefit is his years of experience making money for other people. 2.5k is not a lot for this though as the fees are quite extensive. Share trading is another possibility and while it is fairly easy to understand, it takes some time getting to know your emotions and the markets in general. That is why I say you should probably leave it where it is and study hard so if you want to make another investment, with your research and a bit of practice you will be ready. People have given some answers saying "listen to me, give me your money and I will make it work for you, etc." The only person you can trust with your money is yourself, hence you would be best placed to do as much research, time permitting, as you can so you are a step ahead of the mindless "get rich quick"ers who will end up losing all theirs. Sorry for not being more helpful. Good luck.

Invest in a nice big, high-definition television set and look out for any news items about credit crunches, food riots, rocketing oil prices or, indeed, the million other signs that capitalism is dying a slow and painful death.
