Certificates of deposit are a good, SAFE way to invest your money. The rates of return aren't spectacular, but they're steady. |

If you need a quick profit on it, wait until the market rebounds. If you want to save it for long term like retirement put it in a few good mutual funds. I know almost every mutual fund out there is down right now, there is a possibility that it will go lower, but the economy will recover and they will end up going higher again over the long term. So if you can afford to let it sit for 10+ years this would be a great investment. Just by investing 10,000 pounds into one fund and letting it sit for say 30 years earning reasonable 7-10 percent annual return would mean big bux. If you want to keep it relatively safe, put it into a cd. this will give you a little bit higher interest rate, but chance of losing it is very very slim.
www.morningstar.com is a good site for researchin mutual funds
Hope this helps |

In the current climate I'd keep it under my mattress to be honest and invest it later when you're not likely to lose through other people's panic. Also it would be a good idea until you invest it to separate it into different bank accounts because the government will pay you back up to £35000 if the bank goes under. However be careful about this and make sure the two bank accounts are in completely separate banks because if for example you use Natwest and Royal Bank of Scotland and both go under you will only get £35,000 back because they are one bank. |

My auntie have this issue two years ago now she's poor and she have 1.2 million. I have worked for lloyds tsb and they have things called isa accounts you can put a max of 3000 per isa and you get back 7% or something like that over 1 year i thing. look into it. also you can do things like saving accounts or property Development seems to be a good one atm with the low property prices but i believe that the best investment you can make is in your self and the further. Like life insurance if you, like me have kids or maybe in education for yourself to get that amazing job your want. Just don't let all the promises and shiny crap that you can buy like games consoles and such. I it was me i would use a small amount to fund my all-time hobby... mini monster truck 4x4ing. love it. Good Luck and if you need anymore advise or just a chum to email or talk to im on msn and facebook.
