I am affraid I do not know the best way, but I do know some good ways. Chinese stock market has just taken a hit and the stocks have dropped about 10% and more. The country has a lot of potential. CHL is in my oppinion a real good investment. The largest cell phone company in the world, in the country with the highest growth rate and the largest population. Seem a no brainer to me. You do not want to put all of your eggs in one basket or if you are a racing fan on one horse. Maybe $2000 at the most. SWZ is a closed end fund that invests in Swiss companies. They do not have the growth potential of CHL, but they will protect your dinero from the falling dollar and it is a rock solid investment. Maybe another $2000.

How about an index fund? PID. International dividend achievers. Not the international. I am not too high on the future of the dollar. Maybe another $2000.

That leaves you with $1000. Put it in the bank and save it for a rainy day. Sort of a bazar concept in this day and age, I know. But there is certain recommendations for that ancient concept.

That is a loaded question. It depends on how flexible you are with the money.

If it was my money and I might need for emergencies, then a savings account might be better suited, because it can be accessed anytime, but interest rate is low.

If the money can be tied up for a long time, then CDs or the stock market may be a better option. If the stock market, you should read up carefully about how the stock market works and decide how much risk you are willing to take. This risk-factor will help you decide which stocks to buy. Good luck!
