Save up another 23p, and open a "Websaver" account with the Halifax...... ideally (if you haven't already), you should have 2 accounts:
A Bog standard Current account (preferrably with an overdraft facility, so the bank doesn't screw you with a £28 fine for going overdrawn), for your general day-to-day transactions (paying bills, direct debits, etc)........... and a SAVINGS account to put the bulk of your money in (what's spare after paying the bills and so on), and earn Interest on it.
Just compare the Interest you'd earn on that money between a bog standard current account and a Savings account, and you'll see what I mean:
£1 @ 0.1% (typical current account) = £1.001 (not even a penny!)
£1 @ 4.50% (savings account i suggested) = £1.045
Alternatively, if you've had problems with your bank hitting you with fines, read this series of articles, and use the 77p to buy a few stamps:
