I have just decided i want to buy shares, can this be done online without a broker?

Pam
At some companies you can. And the list is quite extensive. I decided a couple of years ago to pursue the same thing. Now I invest in 1 stock per year for my daughter....

Look at the website www.equiserve.com. It serves kind of as an intermediary for you to buy stocks directly from companies (if offered). It gives comparisons and then offers you the printed materials and kit to invest.

Some companies have Direct Investment Programs. Here is a partial list. You can buy directly from the company without commissions.

Jo Blo
you'll need to open an account with a broker.
if you already own shares in some corporations, they will sell shares to you direct. but not if you don't already own at least one share of stock in that company

Glen D
No, you must open an account with a broker, and then you can place your share orders online. Good luck.
