I have ten thousand pounds to invest?
i have an isa already so that is out of the question, i do not wish shares again as this is where i have got my windfall from. I had watched a program recently about getting an artwork dealer and making a small profit that way. can anyone comment on this and know of any reputable firms glasgow area?

what are your comments about premium bonds also?

i do not wish an isa, shares, autographs etc.

any help would be greatly appreciated

£30,000 in Premium bonds have so far got me on average £50 per month.
£10,000 in an ISA has been earning me £43 to £49 per month. Obviously these figures are based on last year, but I do not think the Premium Bonds are that good any more. Of course there is the chance of a big win, but these days an awful lot of people have the maximum £30,000 in and it is rare to see anyone winning with less.
Many holders who invested small amounts in Premium Bonds from as early as the 1970s say they are yet to win even the minimum prize of £50. Banks and Building societies are now guaranteed by the government and offer a safe return on your money. Unless you are an Art expert stay well away from dealing in Art. I hope this helps you.

Go with a high yield bond fund, like T.Rowe Price, Vanguard, just too name a few. The prices are lowest ever and the yields are like over 10%. Great moderate risk bond investment.

It's probably not a good idea to give you any specific tips as each person's situation is different.

So, I have provided you with some of the top sites available where you can get high quality information to help you decide.

One thing that is worth a look are some of the mutual or friendly societies if you want total safety, but you may have to tie the money up for ten years of so! They're worth a look though as they are tax efficient methods of saving: http://www.friendlysocieties.co.uk/ or http://www.afs.org.uk/members/members.asp

Have a good look at the links below, I know there is a lot of information but it will be worth the effort when you find the right product!

Another thing worth considering are 'Investment Trusts' which enable you to spread your risks across a 'basket' of different shares. A word of warning though do not use splits trusts they're too risky! Take a look at Trustnet they provide a wealth of information about them:
http://www.trustnet.com/it/funds/sector.asp?aitc=GLBGW ~ Stick to the 'Global Growth' sector they are the best & safest long term bet!

Good Luck!

Look at yield in Treasury coupon bills they use to go for 10,000.00 a peace you can get that information at Federal Reserve web site compare yield after taxes to tax free municipal bonds. if they let American auto business go into bankruptcy psychological effect may make treasure safest. Isn't it amazing how those that don't lean from history are forced to repeat it. Break up the big banks and qualified people will be able to get loans wanted.

Recent reports are saying that Sothebys and Christies are having difficulty selling artwork for their appraised prices. I would be very careful.

As far as I am concerned, the only reason you should buy art is to hang it on the wall because you like it.
