put most in bond, mutual fund, CD, whichever is safe.
i'd only allocate 1 million in stock market .. wait for recession really kicks in and buy it bottom.. you will make so much money in 5-10 years , dont forget to put some in retirement account too just in case |

best method is to keep it bank with lock in period of 6 months and after its expiry look for better investment.
the reason is that you got the sum on court case and there may be an appeal in higher court and their judgment may cause injury to you. eventualities cannot be ruled out.
wait for some time up to time limit allowed to the aggrieved to file an appeal. |

Lucky you! First put it in savings so you can think about it and not make any rash decisions.
Taxes get paid first, obviously.
Then 10% to charity for good karma.
Then 10% set aside in high interest savings for the future.
Personally, I would invest in real estate and land (they're not making anymore of it, you know!) instead of stocks.
Good luck! Most people who have a big windfall, like lottery winners, end up broke again within a few years. Don't be that person... |
