Todd P | I’m looking to invest in a fund offering tax free income - any suggestions? |
Specificlly, I’m looking to invest in a fund that is diversified, short-term, tax-exempt money market or insurance fund. The fund objective must be to provide a high level of current interest income exempt from regular Federal Income tax to the extent consistent with preserving capital (and California State taxes if available), while maintaining liquidity, and stabilizing principal. I'm open to serious suggestions. Thank you for your time. |

Try municipal bonds for tax-free status. When I lived in the U.S. (20+ years ago), I think they were tax-exempt. Might still be.
But you asking for too much:
- If you expect capital guarantee, don't expect high return. Those who market capital guaranteed products know they have less risk than those which are not, therefore they know they can pay less return on them.
- If you expect tax exempt, don't expect high return. Again, less risk so less return.
It's the way the market works. |

Consider the Vanguard California Tax-Exempt Money Market Fund. No load, low expenses, and state and federal tax exempt.
They also have an intermediate bond fund, but that would be more volatile. |

You need to contact your cousin Pedro from Mexico and he will buy in any Mutual Fund, Exchange Traded Fund or Hedge Fund you want and he won't have to pay any taxes.
If you know what I mean.

You can invest in Vanguard or any major fund company. But tax free bond fund usually pays less interest than regular one, about 25-30 % less(4% vesus 5%) .It depends on your income so do your math carefully....Good luck |
