I need Investment Ideas?
Hi,
I am looking for ideas on some things to invest it.
Here are the specs:
I do not want it to be long term, maybe for 2 years max.
I do not want any interest to be paid to me.
The growth can be small, as long as there is some growth.
And most of all, I need it to be a safe type of investment, where there isn't a big risk in whatever it is I would be investing in.

At one point I was really into flipping Real Estate but it seems that, that is not the market for that right now.
I am open to any ideas.

Thank you.

Find a mutual fund that will allow you the reinvest any interest earned. Several are out there that show some growth. However, some risk is involved the more growth equals more risk. Some banks also offer CD's that will allow you to reinvests any interest earned.

A 2 year CD would probably be your best bet. They are perfectly safe and earn a modest interest.

First, no sensible person "invests" for 2 years - it is far too short. There is no investment that can guanantee growth. You have to expect to possibly lose 10% or more even on a conservative investment. That leaves savings which all pay interest.

If you have money and don't want income the best thing would be to pay off any debt. If you have no debt then invest in improving your skills - maybe get a real estate license or something related that will help you earn more in the future.

I buy delinquent Real Estate Property Tax Liens. Two days ago, I earned $750 on a $4,171 tax bill that was not paid. I feel tax liens beat any stock market or stock deal since it all began. Tax Liens come before mortgages and when foreclosures happen I still get my money back plus interest. And if I should ever get a piece of property by redeeming on it, I will contact an "We buy Ugly Houses Outfit" and sell it to them. BTW the interest on that particular lien was 18% and it only took 50 days to collect.

Grill some pork chops, fry some chips in lard, slice a tomato and cucumber and have a good meal. Then face East and pray to Mohamed. He will give you some good ideas.

But make sure you wear a hijab and a thick veil, so that your great beauty does not give him sinful thoughts, the dirty old man.

uncertain market.treasurys..that is it for the next two years.....

Lynn
Because you say only two years, maybe a bond fund? Like Vanguard's short term (VBISX)

Or a high yield savings account at about 4.5%, but there would be taxes....

Sorry, I cannot think of any investment that fits your description. With a time frame of 2 years, I would agree that you need something "safe". However, anything safe that I know of pays interest. Stocks can provide capital gains, but are not safe and not intended for investors with a 2 year time frame.

The only real options you have, IMO, are money market accounts or bank CDs ... which pay interest.

Why are you trying to avoid interest? Are you aware that you can purchase a money market account or short-term bond fund that uses municipal bonds, whose interest is exempt from federal taxes? Also, the interest from Treasury bonds or treasury bond funds is exempt from state tax.

I'd invest on Prosper to earn some interest since the market is horrible right now.
