I own Yahoo stock, will it drop drastically now that the Microsoft deal is off.Should I hold on or sell?

I have seen this many many times in my career. When a company withdraws from a bid, the bidder's stock normally goes up, and the target stock tanks back down to pre-bid levels.

I expect Yahoo stock to tank Monday back down to the level it was right before the MSFT offering. The price drop will happen before the opening so it's too late to sell.

If it gets down to $13-15 I'd prob be a buyer (if you are speculating).

A good strategy for MSFT is to allow YHOO to fall back to pre-bid levels then go lower. If YHOO does not pull off a turn around later in the year, then MSFT will have a chance to buy it at a lower price, and YHOO will have fewer options then.

I also expect class action lawsuits to be filed against YHOO by shareholders because YHOO did not allow the shareholders to vote on the proposed bid. If YHOO stock falls and no new bidder surfaces to equal MSFT's bid, lawsuits are pretty much a guarantee against YHOO.

I'm not favoring one company over the other, I am just giving my analysis of 19 years in this business.

If you are showing a good profit, sell. If you are showing a loss, hang on. There is a good chance MS will come back if the shares fall appreciably.

I am not charging you anything for this advice.

I agree with Franco. Knowing MSFT and Balmer he is probably hoping the stock will drop so he can buy more and give him a stronger position.

Yahoo can hold its own. It doesn't need Microsoft to survive. Microsoft is pretty dumb.

You should havee been sold. The question you have to ask yourself whenever you own a stock is. WILL YOU BUY MORE TODAY? If you ever answer NO. SELL! (period)

probably go back down into the low 20s, like the months before the bid (except for the day it hit 19). I would hold onto whatever you have expecting a long term gain.

1) Yes.
2) I suggest you to sell. (I am a Portfolio Manager)

Louisa
Definitely hold. There's alot of us Yahoo fans out there who are happy as a lark that Microsoft has flown the coup:)
