I think the Dow has reached a bottom, what you think?
think about it, every one knows how bad it is and how it wont get any better next year yet they still have shares held in the markets, this bottom will get knocked down a bit but bounce back up quickly, we can see today, why is money invested back in when we know more bad news on the way, because investors are contempt with this level.

I think we can go lower.

Using the numbers from the S&P 500 in several past recessions the PE fell to less than 9. They predict less than $70 in earnings for next year, some as little as $58. Even at a 25% higher PE of 10 and slightly higher earnings it looks like 25% down from here is not just possible but likely. And 50% MORE down is possible but not very likely.

Saying we have hit the bottom I think is very premature.

I agree the market action says we have hit a short term bottom but if the fundamentals, mainly next years earnings, fall as much as they could then this is certainly not "the" bottom.

Today's weekly unemployment, imo the most critical statistic, came in worst than expected and they think it goes downhill from here.

IMO, It all still depends on how bad this recession becomes and we don't know yet.

hard to say where the bottom is. The problem hasn't been resolved yet, so the market is going to be up and down for awhile. There's still a housing crises and unymploynent is high which means people are broke.

Bottoms are only know when they are history. Stocks are very cheap on last years earnings and Wall Streets always optimistic next years earnings. But all indications are that earnings will be much lower than last years or current estimates. Based on that likelihood, stocks are not cheap at all. I believe today was a short term rally in a down market. It may continue a bit more as stocks were oversold short term, but I think we have to go lower. This recession or depression is likely nowhere near its mid point. It is definitely a stock pickers market. Indexers will be disappointed once again.

Well, the last time the DOW broke 8000 we bounced back 900 points in one day. This time we only bounced 500 points. It's amazing what one good up day will do for some people's outlook. It simply means that these people should keep their money as far away from the stock market as possible. I'm just as bearish today as I was yesterday, only I have a lot more money, because I anticipated today's bounce. The same can't be said for my outlook for tomorrow. Tomorrow's a whole new day,

The bottom hit when it went below 7800 points. Buy Google Wendy`s and Ambac Financial.
