Start putting $50 a month in a Vanguard index fund. Forget real estate until you graduate. It's too time consuming with your studies. While in college take courses in real estate and the stock market. Read the Wall Street Journal or Investor's Business Daily or at least the business section of your local paper.

Homer J. Simpson
as long as you will be in college, take a finance class.

Start by going to the library and getting some books on investing. Study them. Learn how to read financial statements - balance sheets, cash flows, income statements. Then research, research, research.
