Ryan R | I want to buy stock but I don't know how to do it? |
I would like to buy some cheap stocks (I'm a college student) like maybe Cardiovascular Sciences but I don't know how to do it. I've been to there website. I don't want to do it through e-trade or one of those websites. Is there a way to just buy some from places on your own? I only want a few shares. |

I don't know how to buy stock but I do know of a really cool website that lets you play the real stock market for free - of course it's only 'virtual' money - but it's better to practice with that stuff than risk your own!
http://www.wallstreetpros.com/
It's a fun site and a good way to 'risk' money and see how it works before you actually risk real cash, it's totally free to use and there are no downloads or anything and there is a $100 prize if you make the most money when the accounts are re-set at the end of the game. |

The easiest way to do it is through one of the websites.
You can go to a stock broker, but you'll pay more than you would thab purchasing online. |

go to scott trade or those other e-trading companies or find a friend who know about trading. |

Not likely. You still need to go through an approved brokerage. Seek out a professional. They don't always cost an arm and a leg. Also, they are there to help advise you. Good luck. |

First you need to learn more about stocks.
Try investopedia.com
Then test what you've leanred with play money on a site like Marketocracy.com
Then learn about derivatives, shorting etc...
before you put your hard earned money in stocks.
If you have to buy soon, by some index funds like Spiders... you can't go wrong there over time. |

You can by going to the comp. website. They would need to be a plublicly traded company though for what it sounds like you are talking about. Also if you dont buy from a clearing house you will most likely need alot more to invest. Houses can split the min shares between its cust. or have already met the min so you can buy what you can afford. You might be better off looking at Mutual Funds that invest in companies you like. Good place to look at is Morningstar.com |

Stocks are too risky. Put your money in a Roth account at your bank. At your age, you can put up to $5,000 a year into it for your retirement. it is not too early to think about that! |

A college student should know it is "their" website, not "there". Buy some grammar lessons, instead. |

Why don't you want to go through "one of those websites?" It's cheap and easy. I can't imagine how it could get any easier than signing up, sending money, and picking a stock(s). What do you want to do, wiggle a finger and have it done? I use Ameritrade. |
