A good place to learn is motley fool they have great deal of info there also read msn money jim jubak articles and make sure you don't chase stocks and do your home work ,also buy investing for dummies its a great book for newbies and good luck ,remember don't buy on news or hype you will lose money ,news that comes out in newspaper or tv are already accounted for in stock prices, unless you have inside info, which is illegal by the way and could get you into alot of trouble

It's not too difficult. Check out one of the online companies like TDAmeritrade or something. They will walk you through setting up an account and show you how to buy stocks.

As far as the process of choosing stocks themselves, well, start with what you know. It can't hurt to get your feet wet with big, stable companies that produce things you use. I started with Johnson & Johnson, and did just fine.

Once you make that first buy and figure out how to buy and sell, then the sky is the limit. There are tons of sources for finding stock info online, and using those, and a little common sense about where the country may be going should get you by alright.

It's a start!
