There can be no limitations to one’s expectations. Take a look at all the diversified equity funds that were launched 5 years back. Invest in those that have given a average 30% annualized return.

Odds are probably not. Even if a fund has a history of producing +30% returns over the past ten years its still hard to be up 10% over the next 5. The ones that have been able to achieve such a feat have done so when the markets they have invested experienced a boom period. Take for instance Japan a few years ago. They had a great number of years and then a disaster struck. My point is that if you want to make 30% a year; you have to be in full control of your selections and also have lady luck at your side. As an individual investor, you are able to move money in and out of stocks in a more timely manner than some fund manager handling millions of dollars. If you are like the majority of Americans who either don't have a knowledgeable grasp on how stocks fluctuate in a given market or simply don't have the time I offer this suggestion. Do your research on a fund, contribute monthly, and sleep peacefully knowing that your money is in the hands that you feel comfortable with. Becoming financially secure is seldom accomplished over the weekend, so be happy if and when your fund beats the market.

In the long term you can expect 20 to 30 percent in the indian stock market.
