I want to know about SIP and mutual funds. Please tell me how to plan my investments to get gud returns.?
I have no idea about investment and I have just started my job about 2 months back. I can invest about 4,000 rupees per month. Are there any special plans for women?

Systematic Investment Plan is a disciplined way of investing into mutual funds, whereby you invest a fixed amount periodically. You could choose the amount you wish to invest and the frequency, starting with as little as Rs. 500 every month, and invest on a monthly or quarterly basis.

Benifits:
It helps you build wealth over time:
by tapping the potential of the stock market
by exploiting the 'Power of Compounding'
By not attempting to time the stock market, it seeks to minimize the risks of market ups and downs.

It averages your purchase cost per unit vis-à-vis investing a lump sum, through a concept called "Rupee Cost Averaging".

Yes if you have account in ICICI or HDFC than you can sip your amount in any Mutual fund. I swere Put your money in DSP Merrill Tiger growth option. I am really getting good heavy balance every month.

Invest in SIP of Rs 3,000 each in DSPML Opportunities, Franklin India Prima, HDFC Equity, Magnum Contra, Reliance Vision and Sundaram BNP Paribas Select Midcap.Because they are the best-performing funds for your portfolio. The funds are among the best available in their respective categories.

dude if u saty in mumbai just let me know ...i'll definately help u out!!!

further to alagu's answer........ you should aaproach your bank & start a sip with them, the 3 good companies in whose funds you should invest are HDFC MUTUAL, BIRLA SUNLIFE & RELIANCE MUTAL..... since you have a corpus of Rs 4000/- you should divide it as follows;
Rs 2000/- in equity fund (EG hdfc top 200 or birla frontline equity) & Rs 2000/- in balanced fund ( eg hdfc prudence).... equity funds give higher returns & balanced funds give moderate returns....this will help you have reasonable safety... u should further divide by putting 1000/- in each category in dividend reinvest option & 1000/- in dividend payout option...the banks will tell u the difference.

hi appu,
you mentioned that you entered just in job, have you fully insured? if not , go for an ULIP (unit linked insurance plan)
an Ulip is a mutual fund with life coverage.
But mutual fund is a Ulip without life coverage.
when selecting ulip, choose which gave high returns in the past and low entry charges.
mail me, i will provide the files regarding MF, ULIp, advantage, how to select , how to get good returns from 1st month itself.. a needful informations for a beginner.
