I am willing to invest $30 in the stock market. I want to turn it into $250 (doesn't matter if it takes a while). Any tips or advice you can give me would be appreciated. I am trying to experiment with the stock market to learn about it. I know some basic, and common concepts that i learned in school in the U.S. Civics. |

Investing in stock market is quite risky unless you invest in blue chip accounts. Trying in small amounts will be cool. But when you put in a lot of money be sure to invest in the solid companies like Microsoft. |

The economy grows about three per cent per year. The stock market grows at about eight per cent per year.
That doesn't jive, so thus the corrections after all the suckers jump in and the investors jump out.

$30 is not enough to start in the stock market. Even discount brokers such as Scottrade will charge you $7 commissions per trade. That will leave you with less that $23 to buy shares (there are some .smaller associated fees.
I suggest you put you money in a bank a nd add until you get at least $1000.00 before entering the market.
In the mean time, go to CNBC.com and enter the $1,000,000 dollar challenge. It's a ganme with "fake" money in your portfolio that you can invest in "real companies".
As you invest in this game it will indicate how well/or poorly you'd do in the market if it was real money.
Have fun learning. |

Unfortunately you'll probably want to save up more than $30 before you actually start investing. It costs money to both buy and sell stock, and it doesn't make much sense to buy $30 worth of stock when it'll cost $10 or $20 to buy and sell the shares. Note that I have heard of one discount broker called Zecco (something like that) that apparently doesn't have commission fees or charge you for having an account. You might look into that.
Also if you want to get your feet wet you can do it for free by going to Yahoo Finance and setting up a portfolio.
Good luck. |
