I read an article that you can invest a $100 dollars in ETFs (Exchnage-traded funds). They are similar to mutual funds. Look into that. It is a good way of diversifying your $100. The article also recommended finding a cheap online trading brokerage firm to minimize broker fees. Sorry I don't remember the specifics of the article otherwise I would have referenced it below. |

One site to use that I just found because I just started is www.zecco.com. No min balance. Shoot I put 20 bucks in there at the beginning. Things are moving now and I am still learning but check it out. Good Luck to everyone here! |

You can start investing with less than that!
Here's some stuff to consider before you decide where to put the money.
1. Your age--The older you are, the less risks you should be taking with your money. As you near retirement age, it's important that the value of your investments is not likely to sink when you need it the most. This would be a great deciding factor in considering which types of investment vehicles to choose.
2. Will you need access to your money anytime soon? If you're going to need it in the next year or so--you'll want to put it somewhere close at hand-like a savings acct rather than investing it.
3. Are you able to keep contributing to that $100? Let's say--can you perhaps keep adding another $25 or 50 per month to it?
If so, you could likely open any number of mutual fund accounts and start from there! Once you've accumulated a $1000 or more in one fund, you can start investing in another fund and then another to help you start diversifying your investments.
This is how I started investing. $50 a month for a little while, then it was $100 per month and then I started contributing a percentage of my paycheques when I was more financially stable to do so.
Hope this helps. |

Well you have made a smart move, my friend. Just wanting to start early, you should congratulate yourself. You will give your money a chance to compound for a long time. Yes, you can definitely start with $100. Some funds have a minimum, but check around and you find some that will let you feed money in as you please. |
