I like to sector invest. There are certain groups of stocks that do well in different financial environments. Currently gold is on a run, you need to figure out what is next while it is cheap. If you are starting out only invest a small portion of your money and try some paper(pretend) trades to see if your on the right track. Never speculate with money you can't afford to lose. Educate yourself however you can and good luck

Hmm do you need to try and scare the guy with myths of Missippippi scheme do you think a corporation now a days could eat 7 trillion of US debt how about Data Race inc (RACE.PK) then maybe they could get that 4% payments around 280 billion a year wow even Berkshire hataway cant buy all that debt. Really Stocks deliver 10 % historically... And lately its been higher. Dividend producing stocks outperform none Dividend producing stocks. The fact that a stock does this is a sign of strength paying dividends.

I think Vanguard or Wisdomtree have good dividend funds with low fees around .38 or so so you keep more of the dividend. Plus its a index fund so you dont need a manager you get which ever companies are paying the best dividends and which they are increasing the dividends. Thats best I got right now before democrats raise tax

If this is your first time investing then you must invest in Bharti Airtel. Their price is gonna rise in near future for sure.
Your second option is to go for an IPO, Reliance Power is gonna issue IPOs in next few days. It would be also a better investment as India's power sector increases every year.

Since you are new, if you can invest a fixed amount every month then you may go in for Systematic Investment Planning (SIP) for balance funds which are being offered by a number of companies. Otherwise look for some Mutual Fund (MF). You may also consider investing in Initial Primary Offerings (IPO) but direct transacting in Shares for for a new hand is not recommendable.
