Yes you are investing. |
|

what?
|
investing is simply buying any asset with the goal of holding it for a period of time, and selling it later at a profit. it can be stocks, real estate, whatever you want. |

Yes, investing usually means stocks, but can also apply to bonds, commodities, options, real estate, etc. Basically anytime you put your money into something with the hope of getting something back (a good return on your investment). |

If you're buying stocks in a company, then you're investing in the company. |

You can `invest` in anything: stocks and shares, in property (houses), in a digital camera, in your future (by your education).
It simply means you invest something - your time, money, effort, into something expecting for it to pay off...ie, show some sort of profit later.

Yes if you buy a share of stock you are investing. There are a number of tools to use when investing and stocks are one of them. A few examples of investing tools are stocks, bonds, Certificates of Deposits, and real estate. Investing is simply the placement of a sum of money in business ventures, real estate, or securities of a permanent nature so that it will produce an income. |

For me, investing is term for when you expect to get a return. As a speculator, that can mean a very short holding period even minutes. To hold an issue for a while, months or years, is not uncommon either. I have bought stocks just to get a dividend. 90% of my longer term holds pay and increase those dividends.
So, the term is relative. If you are buying to make money and you do, the only person it should matter to is you and IRS. |
