You will need the interest rate for the compounding period. Go to this site to plug in the numbers for yourself:

They'd be a fool for 1 thing. Last place you leave sizeable sums is a bank. If got average of 2.57% a yr would have doubled which is awful considering stock market went fro 700 to almost 12000. |

Not nearly as much as if they had put that money in stocks or Real Estate |

when you adjust for inflation, about 20 or 30K I think.
COMPOUNDING interest is powerful though. Interest on the interest. At 14% money DOUBLES every 4 years or so. If you have a few years left, it could make a nice retirement. |

Depends on interest rate. |

At 7% interest, it will roughly double every 10 years. So after 10 years, you would have $40,000. After 20 years, $80,000. If you left it for thirty years, you would have approximately $160,000. |

In nominal terms, it would be Principal X Time (periods compounded) X interest rate. In real terms, ya discount it all back to present value and then find out with disgust that you have less purchasing power with it now then back then. |

Bank rates have changed but the equation is $ x T^(interest rate)
so....
20000 X 28^(1.03) = you do the math.
Im being liberal on the .03% interest you get at a bank |

Blunt Honesty

Depends on the bank, the interest rate, and how often it is paid. |

It will depend on the interest rate at that time. |

$10.00 because of inflation.
I used to be able to fill up my car with $10.00 back then, now it takes $40.00. So it is worth 1/2 has much. |
