skahhh | If the fed increases interest rates, which way does oil go? |
|

if interest rates go up, that will imply a stronger dollar and his will push oil lower.
1.) oil is priced in dollars, and if the dollar is believed to become stronger, the price of the commodity should go down, and
2.) buying dollars has long been a "safe" trade, so as the dollar strengthens, capital will flow from other assets (oil) into dollars |

Short-run price of oil will decrease because of the appreciation of the dollar. Long-run price of oil, speaking in particular of this market environment, will ultimately increase and reach a level higher than prior to the rate rising. |

Higher interest rates should strengthen the dollar, and make oil cheaper, but don't expect it to be a big difference.
Over the last year, the dollar has lost roughly 10% of it's value internationally, but oil is up nearly 100%.
There is a lot more at work as far as oil prices go, then a weak dollar. |

it does not matter. oil is going to go up no matter what. supply and demand. we all need to start using other energy sources now and stop this BS. |

oil is still supply/demand, and we are talking in the short term
You could reason that with higher interest rates, spending goes down, therefore the demand for oil/fuels goes down and the price goes down also. |

If rates go up, the dollar should go up. Since oil is denominated in dollars, that means the price of it should go down. However, supply and demand still govern oil and the price could still go up (but not as much as if interest rates stayed low). Mexico and Russia are not producing as much as before and the demand is ever increasing in the emerging markets. The new Brazilian discovery will take some time to develop. |

Oil price has only one way to go and that's UP.
If Fed increases interest rates the chances of dollar gaining it's ground is higher and if it gains ground and becomes more valuable than Euro then oil price may fall a bit in the short run.
But taking a long perspective since the supply is limited and demand is rising and there is not much new exploration activity is going on the oil price will go further high in coming years. |

Oil will probaly go up because this is the path and Agenda that is set for OIL. Interest rates have always been played with and it is sad we the people will suffer either way. These
controllers get a real kick whatching Humanity suffer.
Peace! |

Oil rates will remain un affected by the fed rate cut, It is maintained with demand supply and stock. |
