If the stock market crashes, you have four other asset classes to pick from:
- Cash
- Bonds
- Commodities (Gold, Oil, Etc)
- Real Estate
I would say a mix of commodities, bonds, and real estate. If you are expecting high inflation, cash is not the place to be. |

Obviously, some people think that a crash has already occurred. The Depression was marked by a crash that exceeded 89% over three years. The Dow went from 381 to 41. Unemployment was 25%. The current market is hardly a crash or depression.
If something outrageously bad were to occur, the best assets would be US Treasuries, Gold, and Silver... cash is always nice too.
During the Depression, FDIC insurance had not yet started.
The best advice is to stay balanced and diversified. |
