I read in a newspaper that there are 25million poundsof pennies lying around on the streets across the country. If u want to get rich then start picking them up. |

See a penny, pick it up and all the day you'll have good luck!
Appart from that, no it's not! I would say that any thing below 50p is not worth it unless your desperate! |

of course. it costs you nothing to do it and despite its small intrinsic value, it might turn out to be the exact thing you needed some time. |

The answer is different for different people. If you were working at your job would you make more or less during the time you spend picking up the coin. If you would make less then the answer is easy. It would be worth picking it up. If you make more working you need to look deeper into the question. For example, the satisfaction you receive by picking up the coin or whether you feel you are contributing to protecting the environment. Another economic view is the marginal aspect. You are where the coin is so you have no cost in obtaining the revenue and no tax need be paid on the value. As for me, I pick it up because it reminds me of being a child and brings a smile to my face. I also drop coins into donation boxes. For me there is value in both activities. |

Yep. I put them in my change jar. Has come in handy a few times when I've been desperate. |

I'd be tight enough to pick it up. Look after the pennies, and the pounds look after themselves. |

From an economic point of view the answer is almost certainly "yes". You should pick up the penny unless the opportunity cost of doing so is greater than 1 cent. But what is the likelihood of your earning more than a penny by doing something else in the second or two it takes to bend over and pick it up? I'd say for most people there is no realistic chance to do something more productive in such a short time. |

Well - if you are superstitious then 'see a penny pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck'
If your not - put each penny you pick up in a jar and in one year you will have £3.65 that you otherwise wouldn't of had...... |

Libra denarii prosperitus. "The weight of pennies is prosperity" as Smilus Ironicus would say. |

Yes. Every thing has some form of worth. |

The only people that think it's good luck, are people who are tight enough to pick it up
I might pick 20p up, but generally 50p minimum for me |
