Safety is the key. Amounts under £35,000 are guranteed by the UK Government in the event of failure; this is all the UK Banks and Building Societies. One should always have an element of suspicion for non uk Deposit Taking Bodies operating here.
At the present time, a safe realistic rate to get is 6.5 to 7% and you would be advised to save it in a Fixed Term Bond for 1, 2 or 3 years.
I therefore suggest that you try one of these; Co-operative Bank plc, Nationwide Building Society although there are others with similar rates. Just tap these names into your search engine for their websites.
If you have no need for the funds in the longer term then you can consider £3,600 in a Cash Isa which gives tax free interest and can be increased by this amount each year.
Outside of the above if you would like to venture into the area of capital gain with a good interest (yield) rate then how about buying Barclays Bank shares? The Bank's are out of favour at the present time which is a good time to buy; the low price results in the higher yield. In 3/4 years time when the economy is more buoyant you can elect to sell or continue to receive the higher yield. It is however usual to spread your money when investing in the stock market. Again you could spread more widely in the safer area on Unit Trusts.
£12,000 takes a long time to save so don't spend it; |

I'd take a high risk strategy (coz I'm like that) and buy a bit of art by a new artist who had had 1 relatively succesful show.
Hold onto it 10-20 years and enjoy it. |

I am in the business of trading foreign exchange. It's only natural that I'd put all that money into that business, either to empower myself to become a better trader, or add that money to my trading capital.

i have invested over 100k in asset management , made 3% to 10% monthly, they have 5 years in market ,The trader have only the Power of Attorney and i can revoke it whenever i want and i watch the trader job 24 hours daily by platform online. i'm happy to make money with them safely. great and wonderful , take a look what i have shared with you.Recommended ! What I did is trading forex through a couple of online brokers like www.fxpro.com or www.eglobal-forex.com and using only Expert Adviser, an automatic trading tool that will do the trading for you which will minimized the risk when trading manually. For the EA I used from www.viking234.com and they give me a magnificent monthly gain ranging from 8-30%!
I don't know about you but it works for me....

I wouldn't invest it at all because I live in the UK, and Gordon Brown isn't getting any more out of me. I'd buy a Harley I think. I've always disliked them yet I've never ridden one .... be nice to be proved wrong. |
