Well I assume you understand that the lower the risk, the lower the reward. This is basically law in finance. If low risk is your desire, go for a Cd, you can probably pull 4%.
Honestly. now is the greatest time ever to buy stocks. Stocks are cheap as hell right now and many businesses are correcting the broken practices that lead to this recession. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the market wont' drop further, but if your investing long term than it shouldn't concern you. Stocks have always outpreformed any other investment vehicle. |

In the current market, I would put the 50k into a stable big company that pays a decent dividend. HON, JNJ, and PG are the types of stocks that I would look into.
Since the companies are stable, even if the price goes down in the short term, you won't lose out in the long run. Meanwhile, the dividend is effectively paying you to wait.
You won't make a killing, but should have a nice stable return. |
